Real Cost of Living in the DR

My cousin's family are thinking of relocating to the dominican republic kinda full time and trying to get a realistic idea of what the actual day to day cost of living is like , not just the blogs and youtube type hype, they dont want a resort lifestyle, its not a vacation, just something comfortable near the coast something Las Terrenas or maybe Sosúa type vibe. We want to know or have an idea of how much we're looking at on expenses monthly, rent, utilities, food, and health stuff? also how's life living without a car and just relying on motoconchos or public transport
We're trying to figure out if this move makes financial sense before they go ahead and early enough so they can make changes before time is far spent

One concern is healthcare...while affordable, access to consistent quality care, especially in smaller towns, can be limited. If someone has chronic conditions or kids, that's worth thinking through

Well, it makes sense. At least assuming that they're coming from either the US or someplace else, but if they are coming from Asia the Dominican Republic isn't a financially literate move.

What's their ideal monthly budget, and are they planning to rent long-term or buy right away, and do they have kids needing school or any ongoing medical needs that might affect monthly costs?
